The Office UK  2001-2003  The Office UK is a staple show in British TV history, first aired in 2001, it follows the day to day lives of office workers in a paper company in Slough. The Christmas special episodes were the final 2 episodes of the series, set 3 years after the events of the main series, and catches up with the employees of Wernham Hogg. David Brent (played by Ricky Gervais, one of the shows main writers), now a traveling salesman, is seen attempting to make use of his brief moment of fame from the in universe ‘documentary’ that was the first and second series of the show to make some money appearing at youth events, whilst other staple characters such as Tim and Gareth remain at the office. The central event over the episodes is the office Christmas party, where the main characters reunite.                              You 2018-2013   You, premiering in 2018, is a psychological thriller that follows the bookstore manager 'Joe Goldberg', a man who becomes dangerously obsessed the woman he falls for. The show begins with Joe at work, when Guinevere Beck, an aspiring writer who becomes his infatuation. The show explores themes of obsession, stalking as well as shows us how Joe justifies his actions in his own twisted mind. 

                         Dexter  2006-2013 Dexter, premiering in 2006, is a show following the character 'Dexter Morgan', a man who due to a traumatic childhood trauma, grew the urge to kill. The story follows Dexter, age 35 Working as a Blood Spatter Analysist for Miami Metro Police alongside his foster Sister Debra by day, but by night he becomes a vigilante serial killer, taking out those that the justice system misses out on. Across its 8 seasons we see 'Dexter' captivate audiences with its unique premise and moral ambiguity and makes us as views ask ourselves is Dexter Morgan just in what he is doing? The character of Dexter Morgan is a man who, due to witnessing his biological mother being murdered in front of him as a child, developed psychopathic tendencies, which resulted in him having very little emotion, especially towards the beginning of the show as well as violent urges, with the need to kill.  Des...

      Pilot to Finale   Every show has a first episode, and will inevitably have a last, a Pilot and a Finale . In this blog I plan to talk about some of my most recent watches on the various streaming services that dig into my wallet every month, all to make a brief, informing and hopefully entertaining summary of some of these watches. October 01, 2024 Shows to watch on the lead up to Halloween  Psychological thrillers, Dark Comedy, Crime dramas and shows with Horror elements are my personal favourite type of shows, and they are only made better when its the time of year where everything is getting spooky, when the nights are darkening earlier and shadows are starting to loom.  Some of my recent watches include the infamous 2006 'Dexter' as well as the more recent and still ongoing show 2018 'You', which is heavily inspired off of the former.
