Christmas special episode 2: Dexter New Blood
Dexter New Blood 2021
Dexter new blood, set 10 years after the original series follows
Dexter under his new life as Jim Linsey in Iron Lake, New York, a small,
isolated town, covered in snow during the Christmas period the show is set in.
The episode in this limited series that covers Christmas day
is episode 9, titled ‘The Family Business’, and entails Dexter, under the alias
of Jim Linsey, finally reconnecting with his estranged son.
The episode begins with Dexter explaining to his son Harrison
that he hints down serial killers, and ‘scares them back into becoming reformed’,
leaving out the part about killing them in fear Harrison wouldn’t understand.
The episode then moves onto Dexter and Harrison spending Christmas day
alongside Dexter's girlfriend and her adoptive daughter before being interrupted
by a visitor.
This visitor was Kurt Caldwell, who after discovering the
evidence found out that Dexter had killed and incinerated Kurt's son, all whilst
Dexter knew Kurt was involved in the disappearance of young women in the Iron
Lake area.
This surprise appearance gives us viewers a huge rise in
tension just as we saw the characters enjoying Christmas quickly shifting to
both Dexter and Harrison traveling to Kurt's
property to find concrete evidence
of his kidnappings. All whilst this is happening, Dexter's girlfriend Angela
confronts Dexter about who he really is, as she has discovered his identity wasn’t
that of Jim Linsey.
The episode then concludes with Dexter and Harrison discovering
the secret of Kurt Caldwell, finding out he freezes and preserves the bodies of
the women he kidnapped, before subduing
Kurt and Dexter being forced to kill him in front of Harrison.
This episode’s actions set up the events of the final
episode of the series, where Dexter has to face not just the police discovering
his identity as the BHB, but also facing Harrison and the actions of his past.
Whilst this episode isn't exactly a 'Christmas' special, iv decided to make a post on it following the feedback from my first post on Dexter.
